Aziz Ullah Meherzad, a fourth-year student in our department, has developed “Balon Tahmini” (Balloon Forecast), an AI-powered application that predicts the likelihood of hot air balloon flights, one of Cappadocia’s most important tourism activities, based on meteorological conditions. Developed over approximately six months at the Cappadocia Technopark International Incubation Center, the application analyzes historical meteorological data and balloon flight records to forecast flight probability up to two weeks in advance with 93% accuracy. Available on app stores, the system helps tourists plan their trips and also provides valuable planning support to hotels, travel agencies, and balloon tour operators. Our student has also turned his project into a scientific article, adding an academic dimension to his work. This success story was covered by Anadolu Agency (AA), bringing it to a wide audience.
We are proud of our student for applying his engineering and artificial intelligence knowledge to address a real need in the region, and we wish him continued success in his work.
